Ditch the Fish

Write my dating profile — without typing a bio

Most men do not need better words. They need honest words and better photos, in the right order. Ditch the Fish is a free tap-only profile writer for Hinge, Bumble and Tinder: answer a handful of questions with your thumb, and it writes your prompts, orders your six photos and flags the icks before a woman has to.

Write my profile — free

What should I write in my dating profile?

Three things, in this order: what you actually want, what your week actually looks like, and one specific thing that is easy to reply to. Women read profiles for trust signals, not cleverness. Honesty is the highest-converting thing you can write — it filters out the wrong matches and makes the right ones feel safe replying.

Do this

  • One clear photo of your face, taken this year, no sunglasses.
  • Say what you actually want — casual or serious — in plain words.
  • Name real specifics: the pub, the route, the dish, the band.
  • One full-body photo, so nothing is a surprise on the date.
  • Ask for the date within nine days: coffee, pub, or a walk.

Not this

  • Holding a fish. It is the single most-mocked photo on the apps.
  • Holding a gun. It reads as unsafe before it reads as anything else.
  • AI-generated or filtered photos, or anything older than this year.
  • Group shots first — she should not have to guess which one is you.
  • 'Ask me' as a prompt answer. It gives her nothing to reply to.

Examples: vague vs. specific

I love travelling and good food.

I will drive an hour for the lamb at the Turkish place on Green Lanes.

Looking for someone who doesn't take life too seriously.

Looking for something serious. Not in a rush, but not here to pen-pal.

Ask me anything.

Ask me about the time I tried to run a half marathon on four hours' training.

Why a fish photo costs you matches

A held fish (or a gun) is a shortcut in a woman's head: it either reads as a cliché she has seen a hundred times, or as a safety question she should not have to ask on a first look. Neither gets a reply. Swap it for a current photo where your face is clear and you look like someone she could meet for a coffee on Thursday.
